Scholarships

The Lakeland Alumnae Chapter has a long history of celebrating the academic achievements of youth in Polk County. Scholarships are awarded during our May Week activities to qualifying high school seniors.

*All paperwork must be submitted electronically. Hard copy applications will NOT be accepted. Students are encouraged to review the application requirements, gather all required documents, and be prepared to electronically submit their application no later than April  (check the application for the specific date). The application must be completed in one setting or students risk losing their data.

General Requirement
• Applicant must be a Polk County high school graduating senior.
• Applicant must be a resident of Polk County.
• Application must be fully completed including applicant and parent signature if a student is under 18 years of age.
• Application must include a headshot photo.
• Application must include a letter of acceptance from an accredited college or university
• Application must include an official high school transcript (2.75 cumulative, unweighted GPA required).
• Application must include a letter of recommendation from two of your high school teachers or administrators.
• Application must include a 200-word essay, typed, and written by the applicant.

• Open to all students
• Awarded for the purchase of books
• Essay is required
• Multiple scholarships are awarded!

Legacy Award now Sharon Hawkins-Jones Award

• Students must be an active member of Delta GEMS with 1 or more years of participation in the GEMS program
• Essay is required
• Multiple scholarships are awarded!
